Before You Start

  • Use a disc nozzle (no spinner)
  • Use clean water
  • Pump the sprayer to your normal spraying pressure
  • Do this in the field, not at home

Farm Details

Enter your farm name and field/block number. These appear on the printed report for your records.

Nozzle Flow Rate (L/min)

What you need: Knapsack sprayer, bucket, measuring jug or bottle with marks, stopwatch or phone timer.

What to do:

  • Fill the sprayer with clean water
  • Pump to normal pressure
  • Hold the bucket under the nozzle
  • Spray into the bucket for 60 seconds
  • Measure how many litres are in the bucket
  • Enter this number under “Nozzle Flow Rate (L/min)”
Example: If you collect 1 litre in 60 seconds, enter 1.0

Walking Speed

What you need: Rope or tape, stopwatch or phone.

What to do:

  • Measure 50 metres in the field
  • Mark start and finish
  • Walk at your normal spraying pace
  • Time how many seconds it takes
  • Enter the seconds under “Seconds to Walk 50 m”
Normal walking speed is about 3 to 4 km/h. The calculator shows your speed automatically as you type.

Swath Width / Row Spacing

For sugar cane, row spacing is 1.2 m. The calculator already shows 1.2 — only change it if your rows are different.

Product & Tank

  • Mixing Tank Capacity — your spray tank size in litres (e.g. 200)
  • Product Name — for your reference in the results and printed report
  • Product Rate — the application rate in L/ha (e.g. 5 for foliar spray, 20 for soil drench)
Always follow the product label. The calculator converts the per-hectare rate into the correct amount for your tank based on the actual sprayer output.

Reading the Results

After pressing Calculate, the results bar shows three values:

  • Water Volume — how many L/ha your sprayer delivers at your current settings
  • Walking Speed — your spraying speed in km/h
  • Product per Tank — how much product to add to your spray tank

Mixing Order (Very Important)

  1. Fill tank 70% with clean water
  2. Measure product in a bucket
  3. Add product into tank while mixing
  4. Add humic or seaweed products
  5. Add microbes last
  6. Top up with water to full tank
  7. Spray the same day
⚠️ Do not store mixed product overnight

Check Your Calibration (Field Test)

  • Spray 1 row for 100 m
  • Row spacing = 1.2 m → Area sprayed = 0.012 ha
  • Measure litres used
  • Calculate: L/ha = litres used ÷ 0.012
If this is close to the calculator result (±10%), your calibration is correct.

Important Tips

  • Calibrate every new nozzle
  • Recheck calibration every month
  • Change nozzle size first, not pressure
  • Walk at the same speed when spraying

Okufanele ukwenze:

  • Gcwalisa umshini ngamanzi ahlanzekile
  • Phampa ku-pressure ojwayelekile
  • Bamba ibhakede ngaphansi kwe-nozzle
  • Fafaza ebhakedeni imizuzwana engu-60
  • Linganisa ukuthi mangaki ama-litre asebhakedeni
  • Faka le nombolo lapho kubhalwe “Nozzle Flow Rate (L/min)”

Isivinini Sokuhamba

Okudingayo: Intambo noma itheyiphu yokukala, i-stopwatch noma ifoni.

Okufanele ukwenze:

  • Kala amamitha angu-50 ensimini
  • Maka lapho uqala nalapho uqeda
  • Hamba ngesivinini ojwayele ukufafaza ngaso
  • Bheka ukuthi kuthatha imizuzwana emingaki
  • Faka imizuzwana lapho kubhalwe “Seconds to Walk 50 m”
Isivinini esijwayelekile: 3 kuya ku-4 km/h. I-calculator ikukhombisa isivinini ngokuzenzakalelayo.

Ububanzi / Ibanga Lemigqa

Emobeni, ibanga liyu 1.2 m. I-calculator isivele ikhombisa 1.2 — shintsha kuphela uma imigqa yakho ihlukile.

Umkhiqizo Nethangi

  • Usayizi Wethangi — usayizi wethangi lakho ngama-litre (isb. 200)
  • Igama Lomkhiqizo — ukuze ubhekise emiphumeleni nasembikweni owuprintayo
  • Umthamo Womkhiqizo — umthamo wokufaka ngama-L/ha (isb. 5 ukufafaza amacembe, 20 ukuthela emhlabathini)
Landela njalo ilebula yomkhiqizo. I-calculator iguqula umthamo nge-hektare ube yinani elifanele lethangi lakho.

  • Umthamo Wamanzi — mangaki ama-L/ha umshini wakho owakhiphayo

  • Umkhiqizo Ngethangi — umkhiqizo ongakanani okufanele uwufake ethangini
